Chromotherapy (Color Light Therapy)
What is Chromotherapy?
The health benefits of chromotherapy, also known as color therapy, can be traced back to the ancient Egyptians and Greeks as well as practiced in China and India. This holistic alternative treatment uses light in a variety of colors to help heal the body’s energy levels, either by looking at a color or shining the light of the color on a specific area of the body.
The essence of chromotherapy is that the body and colors are connected and different colors can heal and improve different parts of the body.

What does Chromotherapy do?
Chromotherapy uses colored light on specific areas of the body to promote wellness from certain ailments. From killing off acne-causing bacteria to reducing wrinkles, it helps on the surface of our skin. It also helps alleviate SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) where our moods tend to be lower due to the loss of light in the winter months. Chromotherapy provides a holistic and harmonious approach to healing our bodies and minds.
Chromotherapy colors and meanings
Color psychology is definitely real. Just like we might feel “gloomy” on a cloudy day with little to no sunlight, colors can also affect the way we feel. Think about how certain colors affect you daily, like how you feel when wearing certain colors or using them in your home.

- Benefits of Chromotherapy
- Red light stimulates skin cells to help treat wrinkled skin and enhance the regeneration of collagen and skin elasticity. This bright and warm color gives you a sense of comfort, love, and even passion. Red is used to energize or invigorate a person who might be feeling tired or down. However, red may also trigger people who might already be tense.
- Orange light induces cheerfulness, mental clarity, and focus. It can be used to elicit happy emotions from people. The bright warm color is also thought to be able to stimulate appetite and increase energy and mental activity. It can increase the feeling of connectedness between the mind and body.
- Yellow light boosts positivity and spirituality. It is used to brighten the skin. It is suitable for skin with dark spots and dull areas. It exudes brightness and vitality and can ignite your energy, improve mood, and promote happiness and optimism. It is the most intense color in the spectrum.
- Green light is the most balancing of all the colors. It is used to treat dark spots or discolored skin by working to prohibit the overproduction of melanin. Green is the color of nature and can help individuals relax and relieve stress. It can boost your mood, and help you feel calm, refreshed, and grounded in nature. It can help enhance the emotions of love, joy, and inner peace while bringing hope, strength, and serenity.
- Blue light helps kill bacteria that produce acne, can be used to treat oily skin, and even helps relieve migraines. It helps purify the skin, stabilize oil glands, and sooth inflammation. Darker shades of blue are also thought to have sedative properties and may be used by people who experience insomnia or other sleeping disorders.
